Essential Study Resources Access

At Barnsley College, we offer a wide range of databases, e-books, and e-journals to support your studies. To access these resources, you will need your College username and password. Some resources may require you to select Barnsley College from an A-Z list of institutions.

  1. Anatomy TV provides three-dimensional, interactive models of human anatomy.
  2. Annual Reviews is dedicated to synthesizing and integrating knowledge for the progress of science and the benefit of society.
  3. Brown's E-Books is a collection of academic textbooks from Barnsley College reading lists, available online.
  4. BSAVA Library The BSAVA Library pulls together the BSAVA’s huge range of world-renowned veterinary content and makes it easily accessible online. The library’s collection includes BSAVA manuals, guides, formulary, CPD webinars, lecture recordings, Companion magazine and more. 
  5. Business Source Elite is a database that has access to full text articles on finance, management, and marketing.
  6. The Cochrane Library is a collection of databases that contain different types of high-quality, independent evidence to inform healthcare decision-making.
  7. Directory of Open Access Journals provides access to over 18,000 high quality, peer reviewed multidisciplinary e-journals offering freely available academic articles.
  8. Drama Online online research tool for drama and literature students, combining play text content, scholarly publications, filmed live performances, film adaptations and audio plays.
  9. Ebook Central eBooks covering a range of subjects including business, childcare, education, fine arts, health, IT, social work, sport and tourism.
  10. Environment Complete offers deep coverage in the areas of agriculture, ecosystem ecology, energy, and affiliated areas of study.
  11. ERIC US Education Resources Information Centre (ERIC) includes references to information on a broad range of education issues.
  12. Issues Online Up-to-date articles, statistics, videos, e-books and links, from a variety of different sources: newspapers, charity groups, Government reports, blogs, magazines.
  13. JSTOR is a collection of academic journals, primary sources and books.
  14. NICE Clinical Knowledge Summaries provides information and guidance for a wide range of common conditions managed in primary care settings.
  15. PubMed has more than 24 million citations for biomedical and psychology literature from MEDLINE, life science e-journals, and online books. Citations may include links to full-text content
  16. Rock's Backpages the world's largest archive of music journalism, featuring over 50,000 articles on artists from Aaliyah to ZZ Top, with a new edition every Friday.
  17. SAGE Journals is a collection of academic journals in the social sciences including education, health, media, sociology and much more.
  18. Social Care Online database of information and research on all aspects of social care and social work provided by SCIE (Social Care Institute of Excellence).
  19. SPORTDiscus covers sports and sports medicine e-journals and magazines.
  20. Taylor and Francis Online articles covering the Social Sciences and Humanities eg music, media, education, health and social policy, sociology from ejournals.
  21. VADS (Visual Arts Data Service) is a free online resource for the visual arts and includes over 100,000 images available and copyright cleared for use in learning, teaching and research in the UK.
